I was on the Millennium Bridge the other day during sunset. It is a great place to walk, between St Paul’s and the Tate Modern, and to stop and think for a moment whilst overlooking the Thames. Lots of time to think however not enough energy to do so. That’s how I feel at this moment.

I am putting together a post regarding everything that’s happening right now, but admittedly I have been putting it off. I hope to have it up this week though. It isn’t that I don’t want to talk about it, more finding where to start. And I am mentally drained by this year as well. Typing feels like walking through thick mud at the minute but I am easing back into it.

So here is a short post about a recent wander. Something I have always enjoyed talking about and walking is really helping keep me sane right now. It is also very interesting to see how the city has changed and is evolving over time, now more lively than it has been for months.

Kings Cross is a short walk from me with a movie connection to the Millennium Bridge. Can you guess the connection?

That’s right, Harry Potter. Brownie Points if you can name the movies they both appear in!

During the lockdown the powers that be have decided to take down the Platform 9 3/4 attraction and replace it with a bench. Not much of a surprise, but I was intrigued to know what it would look like today. Would they have boxed it up or fenced it off??

Neither, just taken it off the wall completely.

For anyone unfamiliar, this is what it looks like normally. I am hoping it returns soon.

I would love to know how many train stations around the world have cool little features like this one. Airports such as Singapore Airport have made the waiting game cool, offering something new and exciting to look at whilst waiting for a flight. More train stations should do the same in my opinion!

Platform 9 3/4 during Londonโ€™s lockdown ๐Ÿš‚ . . . Speaking of Harry Potter (in my story), I went to Kings Cross during Londonโ€™s lockdown as itโ€™s only a 20 minute walk from my home. Turns out they have taken away the tourist attraction and replaced it with a bench. Iโ€™m hoping that this is only a temporary move, however I wonder how long it will stay this way ๐Ÿง™โ€โ™‚๏ธ . . . #harrypotter #harrypotterfandom #platform9ยพ #kingscross #kingscrossstation #reflectionphotography #urbanphotography #mylondon #london4all #londoncityworld #londontown #england๐Ÿด๓ ง๓ ข๓ ฅ๓ ฎ๓ ง๓ ฟ #londonlife #londonliving #travel #traveldiary #cityviews #streetphotography #photography #mydarlinglondon #londoncalling #londonblogging #presetlightroom #londonist

Have you seen the Platform 9 3/4 attraction in London Kings Cross? Do you think they will reinstall it?

Let me know what you think of it’s fate… and I hope you are all having a great week, whatever Hogwarts House you’re in ๐Ÿ˜‰

Due to the Coronavirus outbreak I am somewhat limited as to what I can do in London, but I aim to post as much as I can during this time. I promise to have some great posts coming your way once this is all over as I continue to explore London.

Stay safe and happy blogging!

Sam

    1. I like that the store is right there, however the queue is always for the photo opportunity! I haven’t been in the store yet but I will.

      Thanks for reading!

  1. No way! That was our favourite spot ever in London! Manage to get a nice picture pushing the trolley too. I was a Slytherine (hope I spelled that right) ๐Ÿ˜†

    1. Yeah shame it’s been taken down! But hey, at least you were able to visit it whilst you were here. Hopefully it will be back.

And I think it is Slytherin without the ‘e’, so you were close!

      Thanks for the comment ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. I agree. However, going onto the website it looks like the trolley is taken off the wall every night anyways pre-lockdown! So at least it is somewhat normal. And easy to install again.

  2. That sweet capture brings a smile to my morning face, Sam. I too hope that the platform is reinstalled someday; we’ll be needing all the comfort-sights-sounds-and-tastes we can get!

    1. We will won’t we! The faster everything gets back to normal the better. Thank you so much for the kind words, I am glad it was able to bring a smile to your face ๐Ÿ™‚

      I hope you’re having a great week.

    1. I know right! But I guess it makes sense. But I did learn from their website that the trolley is only there between 8am-10pm, so it seems like it is taken away every night anyways! (sorry if this spoils the magic a little!)

      1. A kind reminder that magic is not real and we live in a cruel world ๐Ÿ˜› It does make sense though, but I hope they bring it back, I still need a picture there!

      2. I’m surprised I haven’t tried to run through the wall myself with the way 2020 is going ๐Ÿ˜€

  3. That’s too bad, but of course I understand why they removed it. I was there many years ago. We came across the platform and the cart in the wall by accident. There was no one around. (I think this was in the early days when not as many people knew about it.) We took a few pictures and left. It was great!

    1. Yeah you got there early! Now it is well known and always with a queue. There is something magical about seeing it without the queue, like its a hidden secret. Nice one!

    1. I love that. I have seen a few stations that have installed pianos to play, and shopping malls in fact. In Newcastle as I was walking through once I watched a homeless man play some classical music and it was amazing. He has sadly passed away now according to local news. But it is great to know there are so many talented musicians amongst us! Can you play?
