Thank you

It seems like yesterday when I thanked you all for your continued support as my blog hit the 6,000 follower mark, it was just one month ago and already I have reached another amazing milestone. 7,000 followers on Living!.

7000followers

Another thousand people that have joined us on this journey through Australia as I try to escape the norms of a ‘normal’ life back home and desperately cling onto my twenties as best as I can. But I am losing my grip and time is stamping on my fingers with heavy, heavy boots. Thankfully though I am not dreading the fall into my 30’s and I am actually looking forward to the year ahead. You see, I don’t think many people realise it isn’t the age that we should fear, it is settling for something we don’t want to do because we are at a certain age. As Eminem recently told MGK, ‘I would rather be 50 year old me than 20 year old you’, and I would rather be 30 year old me having fun than teenage me. I was pretty shy and boring. Youth isn’t always a good time.

But anyways I am going off course. I just wanted to post again my appreciation for you all following me and hearing my stories. If it wasn’t for you I would have probably quit a long time ago. But I won’t be doing that and I will be here daily trying to find new things to write about. And as long as I am travelling I won’t be running out of things anytime soon.

  2. What would you say is the biggest driver of your follower count? It looks like engagement with the community is a big deal, standing from the sidelines that’s what looks like is a big factor. I don’t follow enough people to be able to compare your content vs theirs but I’m sure content is a factor.

I ask because it seems to me there is a fine line between building an audience and engaging with people. I’m not really engaging because my blog is a pretty specific niche–presumably, people that look for me will find me and hopefully find me interesting. But on the other hand I could engage with as many people as possible and hope that many people that see what I produce, stay, regardless of whether they are what I consider my ‘target audience’. How do you tread that line? Do you have an ‘audience’ in mind? Do you approach this with a strategy in mind?

Many congratulations on this milestone. You are doing a great job. God bless!

    1. Hey Scoot! Thank you for stopping by and asking. I genuinely believe that blogging regularly and consistently as well as engaging with others is more of a factor, as my posts haven’t really changed in length over time however I only noticed growth once I got out there, instead of blogging purely for myself. I never had a specific blogger type in mind however I knew certain people would like it and others not.

Now, despite my blog being of a certain nature and certain topics, I have followers that disagree with certain things I say but we still have fun conversation. As long as we are civil in conversation people will appreciate it despite having a difference in opinion and will be happy to read.

My content isn’t all that special, there are bloggers that put much more time into their posts however might not engage as much. Readers just like knowing that another post is on the way and it will be delivered on time over posts that are inconsistent.

Thank you for the kind words also, and I hope this helps!

  3. Completely agree! My youth was just as dull, didn’t really start traveling until 25 so got to make up for the prior years and enjoy life 🙂
    Congrats on the 7k!
