For me, blogging is great for multiple reasons. When I first started to blog I wanted to post the thoughts and opinions I had on certain subjects, the opinions I felt strongest about that were pretty out of place in a Facebook status. I wanted to find a platform that people could reach out to and read if they wanted to without being too intrusive and in-your-face. This was the place for that.
I still do this, but have since blended this with my travel updates so people can see where I am at any time. I love photography, travel and gaining new experiences, so when I can mix all the above together I will. It also works well for me as I want people to understand that a lack of religion and faith in an afterlife does not have to result in a complete lack of motivation in this life. Quite the contrary.
I often have strong feelings on certain opinions, things that I love and hate and the way I wish things were. Blogging helps me to put these thoughts into words and attract people with a similar mindset and gratefully, those that disagree but are willing to listen to my side. It also helps me to understand the minds of other bloggers and learn to be more tolerant. I have definitely improved on this over the years.
It is a diary that I can look back on and my photos are not going to waste. With every blog post I look back on I gain inspiration for a new post and often bring back memories that had diminished over time. It is a diary I can access 24/7 through my laptop or phone on the go and I am so pleased we live in a time that makes this possible.
The great thing about this community is that everyone blogs for different reasons. Some for therapy or to give advice, some to display their travel and photography experiences. But why do you blog? What makes blogging fun for you and what is your long term goal? Whether it is for similar reasons to mine or completely different ones, I look forward to reading about it.
Happy Wednesday y’all.

I wanted to learn about myself. I was going to try and sell art on line but I found WordPress and realised I could write short stories or poems as well as sharing my art. Is that why people blog, to understand themselves?

A lot of blogging is to help understand ourselves, or at least write about ourselves. Blogging is great for you because you can write and at the same time, build an audience to appreciate you artwork. The best of both worlds!

Once, when I was playing Runescaoe when I was in my sixties, I got into conversation with a kid also playing it. I asked him how old he was. He was thirteen. He asked me how old I was. I said I was sixty. There was a long silence. Then he said “Well, I suppose you have to do something while you are waiting to die”. So that’s why I blog.
Unlike younger people here, possibly, I believe being content, makes dying easier. And dying is the transition of our consciousness to another state. Its not an end: its a beginning of something else.

Wow, what a thing to be told. I believe what you said regarding death, for me it is a state of non existence which is exactly where we were before birth, so something new is certainly something I consider. Also, being 13 doesn’t guarantee a longer life than a 60 year old. The elderly sometimes outlive their children, growing old is an accomplishment.
Also, being content makes life and death easier. It is something we should all aim for. May I please use your comment for a post? I have been inspired by it and if you give me permission to link to your blog, I will. Let me know 🙂
Thanks Elizabeth.

You are welcome Sam! I have several blogs – all different! I think if you click on my image you will go to peacepoint which is a non active WordPress blog, that I use as a portal to all my other blogs – there should be a list of them there. If you use my comment, won’t you correct my spelling error – it should be Runescape. (big online game).

I started blogging as a way of writing more as my writing seemed limited to a few journal entries here and there, mostly when life was being difficult. It has since expanded into a way to connect with others in a friendlier than Facebook fashion, to learn from other runners and “see the world” through others adventures in traveling.

This platform is so large that you are guaranteed to find thousands of other bloggers with the same interests in running. Seeing so many runners through their eyes and running destinations all over the world must be fascinating!

Haha, I just wrote a post on why I blog yesterday. I think there are some great answers here. Blogging is good motivation to stretch our brains and keep mentally active.

I blog because I have an incredibly silly cat, and, when other cat owners informed me that this level of silliness wasn’t normal, I wanted to document it all. I didn’t think I would have enough material to last more than a few months, but the cat just keeps the silliness coming! 🌞👑

That kind of thing should be documented :p I hope the cat keeps on providing inspiration to post xD

I blog as a travel diary (how old school), but also to share our uhm ‘wisdom’ with others…

But a modern travel diary 🙂 It is great that you can update wherever you are without having to carry around an actual diary. Keep blogging and sharing your wisdom!

Just started blogging a little less than month ago( My blog is not all that yet lol) . I started blogging because I have always kept journals and after recently going back to read them . I’ve come realize it would be nice to share some of my thoughts and feelings to others. I’d like to see how many people can relate with me and maybe even grow in wisdom with me ?
Also, because I am exhausted of the daily LA life looking for something different to do.
