Meet and Greet page: Introduce yourself here!

Welcome to my meet and greet page, inspired by some of the first bloggers I followed and I have love that my followers are eager to put their blog posts out there and read the posts shared by others. For this reason I have introduced this page and I will keep returning to it regularly.
I feel my community is now large enough to provide a page for you to promote your blog and get to know other bloggers a little better.

So with that, feel free to introduce yourself here. Who are you and where are you from? I would love to see the diversity here with such an international blogging audience and feel free to link your blog for others to read.

New to this page? Welcome!

Already posted here in the past? Feel free to stop by and say hello anytime.

It is going to be hard if not impossible to keep up with comments on here whilst I publish posts around it, however I am constantly on the page looking at all the contributions and I will re-post this regularly to give a better opportunity for posts to be seen.

Hopefully you find a new cool blog to follow and someone feels the same way about yours 🙂

Happy blogging!

  1. Hi Sam, thanks following us.
My wife, Jacqueline, and I are an Australian couple. We have sold everything we own (except our house which we rent out) and now travel the world full time. We have been doing this for almost 3 years and are able to do this via house sitting.

We have a house sitting page where we blog about the pets we have cared for at https://www.theaussielambs.com

We also have a travel blog we where we post about some of the cool things we see and the experiences we enjoy.

Our goal is to inspire people to break free from their ‘normal’ life and show what is possible. Take a look – hopefully you’ll join us on our journey.

    • Hi Sam, nice to meet you. I also love to travel, every year fortunately I am able to take an amazing trip. I’ve written a little about it on my blog. I am in the midst of changing my blog mostly to art. Almost at retirement age, which I will never do completely, because a busy mind is a healthy mind. I am an artist trying to sell my paintings through Etsy and perhaps through my blog, it just takes me so long to get computer work done. I have three dogs, husband and three wonderful adult children. I lived in Australia from 1968 to 1974. I absolutely loved it. “Maroubra Beach” Your blog is very easy to read – nice writing. Take Care.
PS l love painting pet portraits. Etsy.com/shop/reillyartpetportrait

  6. Hi folks!
This is a great idea Sam and thank you for giving us the opportunity to introduce ourselves to other bloggers.
My blog is about photography but more recently, I have started to blog about current affairs. I started the blog as I wanted to share my journey to becoming a professional photographer and its been going now for 12 months. By my own admission, its only recently that I have committed more time to it and my intention is to blog as much as I can whilst I’m off work. It would be great if you would pop over and check it out as I have very recently added a resource section which include downloads for cheat sheets and links to free photography courses. My blog is http://traciesetter.blog.
    Hope to see you soon

  10. Hi Sam! Thanks for following my blog maketodayawesome.org! I am new to blogging, and am like you, in wanting a different platform outside of FB for sharing thoughts. I plan to blog about yoga, healthy eating, diy projects, and mindfulness. I also just started my own apparel and gift brand lionsshareapparel.shop. I am a former teacher and the brand is designed with the idea that we can “teach with t-shirts”. I love talking about social emphatic al learning and emotional intelligence skills, so I am trying to focus the brand in bringing those messages to the forefront of people’s minds. Again, thanks for the follow! Looking forward to getting to “know” you!

  13. You know what, why not. This is a good idea and you were generous enough to follow me, i will return the favor and take advantage of the free advertising.

I have been blogging for less than a month, inspired to take up the mantle of an intellectual powerhouse who passed away over the summer. My blog is timesdispatch.wordpress.com . In a way, it is antithetical to this blog, since I will predominantly be musing about Religion, its intersection with politics and Daily Life, and my attempts to grasp related philosophical constructs. I will follow your blog and hope we can have a respectful and mutually edifying exchange of ideas.

  14. Great idea! I live in the Adirondack Mountains of New York and travel the world as a lighthouse caretaker. I blog and post photos of my journeys (and knitting and weaving) at one2travelfar.wordpress.com

I’ll be on Deal Island, Tasmania, in the Bass Strait during your fall season.

    • Wow, what a wonderful way to see the world. I’m a mainland Australian but adore Tasmania because it is so different to the rest of the country and needs to be protected. I always fancied myself living in a lighthouse with time to write. My blog started out as a personal one to keep my city friends in the loop about our tree change and has been useful for my studies when I needed to do a reflective blog. I’m a keen photographer and former journo so love combining my two talents. Hope to read about your lighthouse experience!

  16. I love this idea! Thank you for doing this!
My blog is really just about the journey of life, and the lessons learned along the way. I’m passionate about photography and writing, so this is a great way of merging those two mediums. I have had a full life of travel, adventure, joys, hurts, loving, and learning. I am a wife, a mom, a creative, a feeler, a learner, and a dreamer. Through all of my adventures and life experiences, I’ve seen the importance of being real and authentic…..I write a lot about owning yourself and who you are. I do not claim to be the authority on anything, only my own experience. Above all else, I hope that what life has taught me can be an encouragement to someone else.

  17. Hi Sam! I’m really enjoying your blog. This “introduce yourself” forum is a great idea! The subject of my (newish) blog is my recently concluded 4-month trip traveling the western U.S. with my husband, mostly tent camping and spending a lot of time in parks and public lands. My blog is part journal, part travel guide for others. I’m back home in Tennessee for the holidays, blogging our experiences and figuring out where to land next. Thanks again for the opportunity to connect. Best to you!

🦅 SoundEagle is a garden of art, science, poetry, music, video, graphics, cartoons, animations, games and puzzles in a beautiful, dynamically syndicated press containing posts, buzzes, events and social media updates.

May you find ample enjoyment and meanings in perusing SoundEagle’s posts and pages, which, as you might have observed, tend to be polysemic, pluralistic and multifaceted, given that they often contain complementary prose, poetry, art, graphics, cartoons, animations, games, puzzles, music and video, sewn and strewn together synergistically as well as aesthetically, but whose denotations and connotations are left in your hands, in your eyes as a beholder, in your ears as an audience, in your mind as an interpreter, in your heart as a connoisseur, in your patronage as a reader, in your discretion as a fellow blogger, and in your whim as a free thinker.

Please feel free to leave plenty of your footprints, to share your thoughts and feelings, to join SoundEagle on a special quest of empathy and consilience, via wisdom and understanding, through discovery and appreciation. For those who have a playful or adventurous streak, your patience with wading through posts and pages will be rewarded by music and video as well as interactive games, puzzles and animations, all of which await your discovery and enjoyment.

SoundEagle hopes that you will find something to your liking, to jolt your memory, to pique your interest, to linger in your mind, to provoke a discussion, to question a paradigm, to gain new insights, to see from multiple perspectives, to become more holistic — something that provides the extra spark for you to be more enriched and consilient — something born of, or connected to, the interests of SoundEagle. 🦅

  19. I am a 70+ year old writer/columnist from Lockport, New York, USA. I grew up in Buffalo in the fifties and sixties, joined the Navy and served for four years during Vietnam and now live with my wife of 50 years in Lockport. “First off, let me say that I absolutely hated writing in high school. I would frequently write my compositions, essays and book reports on the bus, when I was on my way to school. I wrote a book report on the book “The Good Earth’ by Pearl S Buck, for three years in a row in high school. It was the exact same book report, just rewritten, word for word, on a clean sheet of paper every year. Fortunately I had three different English teachers. I never actually read the book but based my “report” on what was written on the dust flaps. I still haven’t read the book.”
I have written over 400 articles as of late, many of which deal with Buffalo nostalgia. He has written a series of articles on early Buffalo television including Rocketship 7, Captain Kangaroo, Howdy Doody, and Mr.Rogers. Norb has also written on his childhood in the Bailey Kensington area, The Mohegan Market, and sailing on Lake Erie as well as reviews on local restaurants under the banner “Lovin Spoonful”.
I have had Opinions/Editorials published in the East Niagara Post, The Lockport Star, The North Tonawanda Extra, The Niagara Gazette, The Buffalo News and I am frequently published in The Union Sun & Journal. He just recently started writing for the Niagara Reporter, Art Voice, The Buffalo Chronicle and Buffalo Rising. Some of my articles can be found on https://muckrack.com/norbert-rug/articles
A few people have asked me why I write and how I do it. I tell them “I enjoy writing and I write what is on my mind.” I was thinking about this the other day and decided the answer is longer than the 11 word answer I give. I make a decision to find out the answer why I do what I do for myself a bit more in depth. I’ve been writing opinions for newspapers for over three years now and I find the process quite interesting.”
I got bitten by the writing bug in my mid-60’s . I also have my own restaurant blog and post on several Facebook groups.
Only once did a paper ever decline to print a piece I submitted. It was on plagiarism and I said in the article I had “plagiarized” the entire article (I actually had permission from the author and they thought it was a hoot). I told the editor this but I don’t think they got that it was a satirical piece. I sent it to another paper and they published the article the next week.
I write not only to express myself but to encourage conversation, spark controversy, keep my mind sharp, call out the inept and give props to those that deserve it. It is an adrenaline rush to see my work on paper and know that others are reading it. I love when someone comes up to me and says “I read your article the other day and I loved it. Don’t stop writing.” I also have a hand written letters from fans in my portfolio.
Like I said, I find the writing process very interesting to me. I take my prompts from current events, something I have seen or experienced or something that I heard in a conversation and have even written “to spec.” Sometimes an idea just pops into my head like this article. I have a pen and paper next to my bed because I sometimes work in my sleep. I have heard that some writers write about their dreams when they first wake up.
I often work on multiple pieces at one time depending how the spirit moves me. I occasionally start writing about one thing and in the middle take a left turn and end up writing about something entirely different. Sometimes I can’t stop writing and other times I hit a wall go do something else.
More often than not, the middle part of a piece is the first part that gets written. Then I have to flesh it out by doing research and adding personal experiences. While writing I find I am opening long closed “file drawers” of memories that relate to what I am writing. It is fun to go down memory lane in my head.
The next step is the rewrite. I read my work out loud to see if the words and phrases flow freely. It is here where I commonly spend most of my time, changing things around, correcting spelling, expanding or shrinking ideas.
Then I have to figure out a good tag line, one that will grab your interest and make you want to read what I have written. I often find that a song or lyric will pop into my head at this point. Last will be the signature line where I usually try to be a little satirical or funny. Leave then laughing they always say. I close with something like “I’m not a good writer but I’m an excellent rewriter.” James A. Michener.

Hi everyone! My name is Di, Dianne, and my husband Dan and I are in the process of selling everything but the travel essentials and the extremely sentimental items. We will be taking off with a couple battered bags in about 6 months to travel the world. We hope to use house and pet sitting, Airbnb and whatever other creative housing ideas we can find. I’ve already started blogging about the process, and our adventures (because life doesn’t stop just because you’re getting ready for a massive change). Follow our fun, it’s sure to be filled with hilarity as we navigate unfamiliar languages, cultures and restrooms!

  21. Hi everyone! I’ve been blogging for over 2 years now but have to admit have been rather lazy in checking out new bloggers to follow recently. Quite a few of the earlier bloggers I followed seemed to have stopped blogging now so my reader is a bit sparse nowadays. Hopefully I will discover some interesting blogs here.

    My own site is https://livinguktaiwan.com/
I am originally from UK and am now living in Taiwan hence the name Living UK Taiwan. I mainly blog about my travels around the world and bits and pieces about life in Taiwan, which in my opinion is quite an under rated country. I hope to introduce this wonderful country to more people and that you don’t get it mixed up with Thailand!! Thery’re two difference countries!! Hope to see you around.

But it really is about my adventures in serendipity. Be open to what nature and the world brings us. Be Here Now is something I learned in my Hippie days of the 60s & 70s.

Hope everyone enjoys my little adventures with birds, trees, history and whatever I fall into.

So many good blogs out there to taste I am bedazzled by the blogging world. Perhaps we will change the world!

My blog started out as a way of keeping my city friends up to date to life in the country and the transition to a new lifestyle. I grew up as a country girl and always wanted to return. Just taken me several years longer than expected. As a former journalist I like to combine my two talents of writing and photography via my blog. I am also passionate about community development and love to travel so my blog tends to vary subject matter. I look forward to building a wider audience this year and sharing the journey with other fellow bloggers. Would love people to drop by my blog. Happy blogging in 2019 everyone!

  28. HI Sam, thanks for this space.

I am an uninteresting person and write about a fairly eclectic range of things; cycling, books, films, travel, life here in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg and, recently, despair. I’m currently in the middle of fortnightly posts about Hitchcock, interspersed with some old notes I’ve found about bike rides here.

    https://deaddeerblog.wordpress.com/

I also started writing daily ten minute tales, based on prompts (from the excellent M at https://puttingmyfeetinthedirt.com), a little while ago and my (and some friend’s) micro fiction is here

In both places I use the name “Dead Deer”, in a decision I am increasingly learning to regret.

Thanks so much. love your blog

My favourite stuff to write about are happy things and cosy, warm moments and meetings between people, just because I feel like a lot of poetry often has to be gritty and dark to be deemed good, and I’d like to challenge that notion x
