Have you ever gazed at the image of a place you have always wanted to go in your life, and then more recently took a moment to realise you are finally in that place? I did this when I first landed in Sydney, viewing the Sydney Harbour Bridge and Opera House on the train from the airport.
It was one of the first times the view almost took my breath away, purely because it took me so long to get here and it is a sight I have been brought up seeing constantly on TV. It is comparable to seeing a famous person I guess. Being able to touch the places you never imagined visiting can be pretty surreal.
I thought of this as I looked back at some photos in my camera roll, and this photo in particular. It is the shot I took from my flight from Sydney to Townsville via Brisbane. I was heading north to do my farmwork in March and got this great shot of Brisbane from above. I can’t believe this was in March. Time flies.
Looking back at this photo was interesting, as I am in this view right now. The past me is looking down at the future me, looking down at the streets of people that I am now walking with, currently looking up at the airplanes that brought me here. It is amazing how flying makes cities look like towns. The skyscrapers I am dwarfed by look insignificant from above.
So, where am I? Right now as I type this post I am in the airplane shot. More specifically, here, chilling with a coffee and a blueberry muffin.
What is strange to me is that I haven’t left the area you can see in three weeks. This didn’t seem like anything until now, it is such a vast area but it looks tiny from here. I wonder when I will for the first time…
Have you ever had a similar feeling from finally being in the place you have always wanted to visit? Was it a holiday destination or a specific landmark? It guess it could also be seeing a sports team or your favourite artist perform.

One Chance to See the World 
Seeing live music concerts is my thing. Seen several over the years, but mostly never had a camera to take photos.

London. Red double decker buses. Red phone boxes. Black London cabs. Theatre sign advertising a play starring Judi Dench and Maggie Smith. Big Ben and Houses of Parliament.

Hiya! Yes – Angkor Wat in January and Havana, Cuba. in February. Sadly my partners phone with all the photos of me was stolen on our last night in Cuba so all I have is memories from Havana and about 3 photos of us taken on my camera.

Oh no! That s such a shame, I am sorry to hear. Do you have iCloud, or anywhere for the photos to be sent as soon as they are taken? That would give me a little more piece of mind. I need to think of that for my own photos!

I almost feel like I’m visiting my own site as mine starts with Living as well!
Anyway, my moment was my first sight of Machu Pichu. I’ve seen the photo of it so many times, but seeing it with my own eyes was a totally different feeling, it was real, right in front of me.

There are many times Ive looked back at my travel photos a few years later & thought “I cant believe Ive actually been there”. Playing in the snow at Yosemite with our kids when I had never seen snow before & live on the other side of the world. Where would we be without photos!

Sometimes it doesn’t hit you until you are back home and have time to think about what you have done, too. That happens to me for sure. I am pleased you got to visit snow for the first time!

Seeing the Patronas Towers in Malaysia close up, walking through Caesars Palace Casino and hotel in Las Vegas in person and the Gateway Arch in St. Louis. Seeing the Gateway Arch in person was an amazing moment for me.

Everywhere I went in Portland from Multnomah Falls to Cape Meares. I had always heard how beautiful the Pacific Northwest was but until I was there I just didn’t imagine how right people were. Even now looking at my pictures they’re great but they can’t do the area justice compared to seeing it in person.

There have been many places but the most recent memorable one has to be Shell Beach in Western Australia. No sand, just 60 km of cockle shells, 10 metres deep. It was everything I imagined it to be and much more.

The whole Coral Coast is quite an experience (I’ve written about it in my blog – Sept posts). Lots of backpackers around too, so you will definitely find like minded folks here.

The places in my beloved Philippines. The ones that were featured in our social studies and culture books such as the Hundred Islands, the famous Chocolate hills of Bohol and the magnificent Mayon Volcano! i don’t have means to go to such places way back the 90’s now I am working I visit every tourist spots here in my country. 😁 and every encounter is truly magical!

Every-time I go abroad I get the feeling that I am living a dream ! Definitely happened to me when I was in Alaska and Canada. You see all these amazing photos and once You make it there you just cannot believe it !

My dream is actually to get to spend around 3 months in Australia.. just going round the country and taking it all in! It is a big dream though. I live on the other side of the world !

The other side of the world is just 24 hours on a plane 🙂 I think 3 months would be a good amount of time to visit this huge country though, it would give you plenty of time to see the top destinations and attractions. I hope you get to go!
