I’d like to you all to meet Honey. Honey is the dog on my current farm, that I believe I will be working on until Friday. My current duty with a team of around 15 other guys is to climb a tree and cut branches out (dead branches and any that face inwards as opposed to reaching out) in preparation for mango season. Honey loves to stand underneath the tree hoping a possum drops out so she can enjoy a good old chase. Tony, our current farmer, keeps telling Honey to stop, but the excitement is too great for her to listen to her owner. Here she is having a well deserved rest from her afternoon antics.
But this wasn’t the reason for this post. I am writing to you all to let you know how grateful I am for reaching 4000 followers! I haven’t been writing much as I get my farmwork days done and build up content to publish, however I have been responding to comments (sorry if I have missed yours, I am still going through many comments!) and logging on as always and was delighted to see this achievement. I couldn’t be happier, so thank you to each and every one of you.
You know who you all are 😉
I have a few pictures, so I will give more regular updates to keep you in the loop. The posts will I am sure be smaller for now, but I would rather shorter posts than no posts at all.
So what is new with you? Any updates? I would love to know what you guys have been getting up to whilst I have been on the farms.
63 days to go…
Aw what a lovely girl! Supervisor, I’m sure!
Looking forward to more posts & photos.
Where to next?
She should be! I’m not sure which farm, but I’m predicting watermelons 🙂
Oh, yum!
Impressive 4000!
Congratulations 🤗
Thank you Mairi!
4000 send like a fantasy number to me. I just hit 50 followers yesterday and it seems surreal. Congrats!
Farm dogs are awesome. They definitely rule their worlds. Looking forward to hearing more about her antics in the future!
4000 was a fantasy number for me too! Congrats on hitting 50 followers, keep consistent with your blogging and that number will double in no time!
Congrats! That’s a milestone.
Thank you, I appreciate it!
You most welcome.
Wow, that’s amazing, congratulations!!
Thank you! It’s a great feeling and thank you for reading my blog and contributing to this 🙂
My pleasure! You have a great blog, I really enjoy reading it!
Congratulations on 4000 followers! I do not think I will ever get to this number ahaha and in this period I have enough commitments that do not allow me to dedicate myself regularly to the blog. Even if shorts, your posts are interesting and sometimes funny.
I like dogs and when I was a child, I loved that my mother told me about her travel to Australia and her friends who kept a kangaroo as a pet.
I would love a kangaroo as a pet! And never say never 🙂 even if you can’t blog regularly, as long as you are consistent you will build your blog in no time!
Aw Honey is adorable! Congrats on 4K that’s such a huge milestone!

Honey is cute! And congratulations on reaching that milestone.
She was up to no good again today, but she still got lots of love from us all on break. Thank you for the kind words!
Congratulations!!! 🙂
Thank you!
Congratulations! I am on 134 and happy about that, can’t imagine how 4,000 feels, but you’ve been doing it for ages and really put the work in. Hope you are okay, and staying safe in the heat and sun.
It is very hard work, but seeing how my blog has grown I don’t regret the long, long hours I spent on my blog recently haha. 134 is a good number, and it can only grow from here! Keep it up 🙂
Thank you, I’m very well and having a great time in Ayr.
Thank you Sam, glad you are okay!
Congrats on 4000, Wow! I hope life on the farm treats you well. Everything’s better with a dog. 🙂
Everything is definitely better with a dog! Thank you so much, it is appreciated 🙂
What a cutie! My dogs love anything they can chase that won’t chase them back.
Haha, it sounds like a dog thing 🙂
Hi Sam. Have you met any Indian citizens doing farm work, or in hospitality in Sydney? My understanding is that India is not one of the countries that has the working holiday visa arrangement, however that it might be possible to get work visa if employer offers job/sponsors the person? I understand that the farmers want visa laws relaxed as they haven’t enough workers. I ask because we met an Indian guy working in a restaurant for the season here in Goa, India, who is desperate to travel, and to leave, as no work where he comes from in Kerala, India. He was considering labouring in Dubai, I warned him to be careful as some of those jobs are not good. He asked me for advice, and I thought of you! Thank you Sam, no worries if you can’t help/too busy.
Hey! I would love to help more, however I haven’t met anyone here from India. Saying that, I did work with a lovely girl from Bangalore in Sydney, she was on a student visa here. Is this something to consider? Many people do it, you would of course have to study on this visa however one can work to fund themselves whilst here. I’m not sure if sponsorship would be a possibility by an employer, you may have to check the student visa requirements out 🙂
Thank you so much Sam, I will pass this on, much appreciated
That’s quite an achievement but I’m not surprised. Your posts are lively and entertaining to read. Wish you well in your travels.
Thank you so much, it is great to read you enjoy my posts so much! I hope you’re having a great day 🙂
Wow! I admire you
Thank you! It is lovely to read such nice words 🙂
Wow, congratulations on the 4K, that’s one to be proud of!
Also, this is the first I’ve heard of mangoes nearing winter (is it nearing winter? I assumed, because of the opposite hemisphere and the fact that we’re hitting peak summer here! Forty plus, Celsius? Geez, that’s so normal.)
Guess we’re always learning something new!
On a side note, I will never be a school student again! I’m pretty sure it’ll hit me someday, but right now, it’s just pure happiness.
Thanks Matt! You’re right, it is nearing winter, however it is still pretty hot here. The mango season won’t start until November, all we are doing is getting trees in good shape in preparation for them growing.
And congrats! Have you just graduated I assume? I felt so old when I finished school, however looking back I was so young! Your best days are ahead 😉
Thank you! In truth, I’m in an in-between stage where neither am I in school, nor have I officially graduated. (Still a month for that!)
So at the moment, I’m just… unemployed. Heck, I feel old. 😛
But, yep, I’m totally looking forward to college, even if that enthusiasm won’t last a day beyond the orientation week! (Or, when the consequences of having picked computer science kick in)
Coincidentally, it is mango season here, and there are large, lovely green mangoes right outside my window, but I can’t reach them!
I bet you will love college, the first couple of weeks are always fun but you will make friends for a lifetime I am sure.
Also, have a mango for me!
What a cutie! Glad the farm work is going well:)
Thanks AJ, having a cute dog at work helps a bunch 🙂
I bet! I wish we could have a dog at school!
Ask, you never know! :p
I did! I got the spiel about allergies and fears:( Maybe there would be less of both if we had a school dog😜
Hey Sam!
Congrats that’s awesome news!! We just reached a little above 100 followers so we are slowly on our way haha. We love your posts so keep them up!
Your friends at GKexplorers,

No problem!!!
4000…a great applause…no words can express the bewilderment …and I am anyhow speechless…that is only a dream for me.
Thank you so much! It fills me with bewilderment also. Keep at your blog and one day you will hit this milestone and more!
I hope you have a good day.
😀thankyou so much for the wishes. I hope so too. Have a nice day.
How did you get so many followers. How do you find bloggers on WordPress other then subject search button?
Before I moved to Ayr to do farmwork, I spent a lot of time everyday on my blog. Posting, liking, following, commenting and replying to comments. I think the amount of hours I put in weekly reflected the amount of followers I gained in these few months. Recently I haven’t been able to post or spend as much time blogging as I hoped, but I still log in every single day 🙂
I find bloggers through searching the relevant tags that interest me, through blog comments on other blogs and through those that follow me. There are so many cool blogs out there that I know I haven’t found yet, I guess the best advice is to spend more time on the blog to discover!
Yes, I can understand that. 🙂
Thank you for following my blog also, I hope you have a good day. Keep blogging! 🙂
Congratulations
Thank you!
Awesome congrats! Make that 4001… prob much more by now but you understand why I mean
Thank you so much for following! I appreciate it and I hope you keep reading my posts 🙂 Have a great day.
