One of my posts has a hundred likes… (Just another thank you post)

I just wanted to give a little update to you guys, my Happy New Year! post currently has 105 likes at the time of typing this. This is pretty insane considering most of the posts I have typed over the course of the four years of being a blogger probably average 3-4 likes each.

This is most definitely due to engaging with the community more instead of just putting posts out there. I used to spend most of my time typing up posts and publishing without actually venturing too far from my own site. This isn’t because I didn’t want to, I just couldn’t find the time to blog regularly and connect with other blogs. The only reason I am able to now is because I am spending most of every day blogging. I really want to reach out to more and more and allow my blog to grow further to help develop as a blogger. This is the only way I can really push myself and achieve the goals I want to achieve, even if it takes up much more of my free time.

And of course, it wouldn’t be possible without people actually wanting to read the content, so thank you for choosing to.

With that being said, I want to use this as a quick chance to ask a couple of questions to my regular readers. What do you think of the blog? Do you like where it is going? Is there something in particular you don’t like, or would like to see in future posts?

I know these are pretty open questions, and I am open to any kind of response. I haven’t really asked this before so I think it’s a good idea to make a start and touch base with you once in a while.

I’m working tonight, meaning I’m all ears until sunrise (it’s currently 9.50pm here).

Enjoy your day and make it one worth blogging about!

Sam

  1. I guess you should always write about stuff you relate to and can put your heart into. Just stay true to yourself, which you obviously do and your readers will appreciate it. Sometimes it is not about the content, but about the feelings and honesty put into it, this will set you apart from the others. Keep going and congrats on your 100+

    1. This is very good advice, so thank you. It is true that sometimes honesty trumps purely focusing on content and I admit that at times I have just tried to provide content more than just being myself. I will actively try to keep this in mind moving forward, and I greatly appreciate your words.

  2. Congratulations on breaking the bar! Your blog’s pretty cool, and I guess as long as you feel satisfied with a post, it’s worth the time, what someone “likes” is pretty subjective.
I wonder though, if you keep email notifications on for post likes, your inbox must be overflowing by now!

    1. Thanks Matt, yeah I guess if I didn’t feel I had my own style and opinions to share, I wouldn’t have started a blog.
I turned my email notifications of as soon as I could as they make managing emails unbearable, even when I hardly received notifications… Annoyingly however I still cannot figure out how to turn email notifications off for people liking my comments… I’ve tried but those email keeps coming on through! I like all my notifications to come through WordPress only. Makes life a little easier 🙂

      1. Try going to Profile (next to notifications on the blue bar) > Notification Settings > Comments > Email (the drag down option). If you uncheck the boxes there, I think you should be able to turn notifications off.

      2. I’ve tried that… the box is unchecked but they still come through! Annoying. Oh well, it still has reduced my inbox drastically, so I cannot complain haha

  3. Hi Sam. I would say, just keep doing what you’re doing. You come across as genuine and likeable and your subject matter is varied and interesting, that’s what I like about you anyway!

  4. Really enjoy your posts, Sam. I’m a Sydneysider who hasn’t lived there for a number of years now, so I like reading your experiences in and thoughts on my home town; the good, the bad and the ugly 😆 Sorta makes me wish I was living back there again. But in the meantime, I’m content with seeing and hearing about Sydney/Oz through your your posts 😊

    1. Thank you, it’s great to know you’re reading my experiences here, especially considering you used to live here. It helps me to keep posting my thoughts and images.
Oh, and I hope I have typed more of the ‘good’ than the ‘bad and the ugly’! Haha

  6. I’ve read a few of your posts. I am smiling, all of your blog is packed with energy of a young person. You are full of enthusiasm, willingness, expectations, persistence, dedication, spontaneity, impatience, etc… you are dynamic, active, fast… Your thoughts are running, competing with each other, exploding with energy… You are polite and mannerly, even though I found one “f” word somewhere. 😉 Those should be normal characteristics for every young individual. Enjoy your talking to the world!

    1. Thank you so much for the lovely comments. I am in my late twenties, so I love hearing the word ‘young’… I am clinging on for dear life! It is lovely to read what you have had to say about my blog, hopefully I will be able to blog for a long time yet.

      I hope you’re having a great day!
