My city had a refugee problem.. Centuries ago

Being a tourist in your own city is always educational. Whilst I was showing friends around the city we  walked around the Castle Keep. A place I have visited many times however there was one information board that I had somehow missed.

Placed just above a crossbow guarding the castle as it would have all those years ago, a section of Walter of Guisborough’s Chronicle tells us of the refugees that fled to the castle from the nearby countryside. Fascinating stuff, showing that a refugee crisis isn’t a modern day phenomenon.
