Belief isn’t always your choice

Much of what we believe throughout life was determined in the society that awaited us while we were in the womb. Religion, sports team, language… are they choices if we have no say in where we are born?

Handing a child to a politician is no different. Ideologies often find us, and we become too complacent to find alternatives.

  1. We can only believe things based on the information we have, and our conclusions as to what is true based on that.

We have a choice about what we investigate, what new information we seek, what we pay attention to instead of tuning out. And we mostly don’t get a choice about that when we are children.
